Film review: MOM

"MOM" an indispensable part of our lives, an omnipresent, an omnipotent figure, she's all this and a true manifestation of the almighty on the earth. Thus rightly claimed, "God couldn't be everywhere, hence he created mothers"! Now, when such an individual becomes the protagonist of a film, named the same, can be nothing but magnificent.
Sridevi, though catching up on age, is still the epitome of elegance and panache; she still flutters quite a number of hearts as our "hawa hawai" girl!
Nawazuddin Siddqui and a stalwart can be taken in a single breath. He never fails to surprise and mesmerize his fans.
"Mom" the film is a mother's quest to make herself felt in the life of her step daughter who considers her nothing but an intruder with whom she is compelled to share her dad. It is heart wrenching to see the mother's efforts to appease her daughter being thwarted away at each step. She leaves no stones unturned to make her daughter yield in till a tragedy strikes the family and finally they end up in a happy frame.

As amma and I left the theatre, we shared an uncanny awkward silence that comprised of myriad emotions-love, grief, anger, apprehensions, where one was content and relieved to have kept her children safe from the big bad world till now whilst the other prepares her toddler to comprehend and demarcate the good and the evil.
The silence that we shared was equal to many unspoken words, the suppressed desires to see our children always happy and safe even when we aren't around.
But as they say, a "Mom" is never off duty, has senses which others don't possess, her instincts none can beat, her strength none can belittle-for when you challenge a mom, you challenge an unforeseen force which on one hand stands up to care, while on the other hand, can uproot the entirety of your existence when you put a finger on her canvas of her life.
